TR6 TR6 dash support in a TR4?

I never knew there to be different levers for a 4 and 4A or for that matter a 6. I've taken many of these transmissions apart and never noticed any difference. Learn something everyday.

Geo - several reasons for me wanting to take this approach:
+ I think the 6 support bracket is a tad wider than the 4 fascia plate thing and I want to accomodate a wider more modern radio vs. the old fashioned radio designs. I realize ths may offend some "classic aficionado" types but its what I want.
+ As DanB mentioned, it will also mean I can use the 6 kidney pads to house speakers for said radio. And these will also, IMO, tidy up the area around the footwells. This winter I am sprucing up the interiir generally.
+ The 6 console looks neater IMO and also provides a means of hiding the hole / edge of the carpet around the shifter.

I think the only difference in the levers may be the later ones have a black plastic cover or coating also possibly different anti-rattle spring set up.

Actually they are different. The angle at which they are bent is different and the 4A is chrome plating. The method of securing to the top cover was also different

I have a 72 tr6 gearbox in my 4A and the 4A shift lever would not fit the 6 gearbox...it was quite a while ago so I don't remember the exact details.
