TR6 TR6 Cylinder Head Oil Line effect on oil pressure

What effect will installing a Cylinder Head Oil Line have on indicated oil pressure?
Has any one noticed a drop in indicated oil pressure after installing one of these lines (that deliver additional oil to the cylinder head and rocker arms)?

No drop in pressure whatsoever. But I did install a new oil pressure relief valve kit at the same time. I'm not sure that it mattered, because I had very good pressure prior to doing both.

I have also found that the very small copper gaskets that come with the oil line tend to leak. If you buy a kit from the Roadster Factory, order several of the gaskets that fit between the original plug and the back of the head to use instead. These are a heavy copper seal and will work much better. These are very cheap, so order (4), one for each side of the new line and two for spares, just in case.

One last thing. Be careful with the tightening of the banjo fitting that goes into the back of the head. You don't want to strip the head or break the fitting.

Same experience as Paul, no noticeable drop in pressure. I don't have a problem with the copper crush washers leaking though. They have worked just fine for me. I do keep a couple extra on hand since they are single use only though. Oh and the banjo bolt will break long before you hurt the threads in the head. Been there done that. I also have an extra one of those. /bcforum/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/wink.gif

I've been instructed that the external fee lines are a VERY good idea if you are using roller rockers. Otherwise, they are not totally necesarry as long as the oil passages through the head are clear. Something that can't always be gauranteed on high mileage engines. /bcforum/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/frown.gif

Did any of you recieve instructions with your oil feed line? Mine did not include anything? I can tell where the hose attached to the head, but I'm not sure where it attaches to the block. Would one of you mind posting a picture, or a copy of the instructions?
Thanks,
BOBH

These aren't the best, since I wasn't focusing on the line, but here they are.

You could practically plug it in anywhere along the oil gallery (all those little cap screws that seal it off) or, like I did, use the T-fitting and "T" it into the Oil Pressure gauge line. Usually you have to put a 'loop' into the braided stainless hose section to get it to fit nicely into that busy part of the engine bay.

Thanks guys
Paul,
I zoomed in on your installation. It looks like you have your line screwed in where the oil pressure switch is located. And the switch is mounted on the oil line adapter? Do I have that correct?

Yes you do. I have since moved the line to make it look a little neater. Pics were taken last fall. When it was warm and sunny. With no ice in the driveway.........sigh....

Re: TR6 Cylinder Head Oil Line effect on oil press

No drop in oil pressure but be careful with that bolt in the head. The gaskets leaked and I tightened and snap. Fortunately I live near the Indy 500. Lots of parts shops and I was able to find a new bolt. Standard F1 brake fitting I was told who knows?

Re: TR6 Cylinder Head Oil Line effect on oil press

Could you post the size and any part number associated with that part? I'd like to get a spare.

Thanks,
