I want to powdercoat the centers but there are no markings on them to identify what kind of plastic they are made of. certian types of plastic can withstand the baking cycle. What kind of plastic are these made of??

next question: what is the best way to refinish the trim rings for the rims? they appear to be aluminum with satin brushed looking finish. would steel wool be good or wetsanding work? I want to keep the satin look.

I had no idea plastic could be powdercoated. What is the temperature and duration for the powder coating? It seems like the easiest thing to do is to test one first. I have an extra that has a crack in it. I could put it in the oven and see what happens. Let me know. Have you thought about just using a matching paint for the plastic? I know Eastwood has matching paint for some of their powder paints.

I want to finish my aluminum trim rings too. I posted the same question you did a while back, but did not get any answers. Like you, I want to keep the brushed look. I have been busy with other issues on my TR6, and I like to do my own work, but I may end up searching Hemmings to see if someone provides this service.

The lowest color powder I have is 375F. Most of mine are 400F. I don't believe the center could survive that. I have 12 of them, I guess I could 'take one for the team' and try it.

I would like to get my rings worked as well. If you find a good firm please update.

B4 I went to panasports because of structual crack on 2 wheels (backside) from lug nut hole to center hole and not being able to acquire a replacement for bent original brushed satin look trim rings. Painter that sprayed my TR6 sandblasted wheels and centers matched paint then clear coated, looked the same 5 yrs later also took the trim rings to Brass shop had them polished/buffed (instructed to keep 'em waxed to avoid rust) both processes kept the orignal TR6 factory look, just new!
