TR6 TR6 Carburetor Question...........................

Was setting timing and trying to tune the carbs. One of the first thing in my checklist was check to see if the valves were opening. First one fine, second didn't move. Ouch. I take the top of the carb and notice the outer diaphragm had a split in it.

Where would you think I could get a good replacement for the diaphragm? They seem to be $20 a pop. Does that sound right?

Be careful where you get them. A friend of mine went through three diaphragms on his 1500 Midget (one carb) within about 200 miles. They kept swelling up on him. I sent him to Joe Curto and he hasn't had a problem in the last six months. I would also suggest to replace both of them.

Although I haven't yet had a problem with replacement diaphrams, I have noticed a difference in the thickness of the material from which they are made.
Art is probably right in that a professional rebuilder should have the best in terms of quality.
Still, 20 dollars is unreasonable for any diaphram. Moss and VB (my choice) run about 5 dollars each.
When replacing, take note of the index tabs on both the outer perimeter and the perimeter of the inner hole of the diaphram. They have a home in slots in both the carb and the air valve to insure that the air valve is in the correct position.
