Hello, fellow British car lovers!

I replaced my defective brake servo on a '74 TR6, bled brakes, and with engine off, got brake pedal resistance. After I started the car, brake pedal went full throw to the floorboards without resistance. What did i do wrong? How to fix?

Bill -welcome to BCF! (nice WW2 a/c for your "avatar" - a P-47?)

I'm thinking the servo sucked up brake fluid when you cranked the engine.

Check the connections.

My avatar is merely generic--closest I could find to represent a fighter in service during the year of my birth. You have a good eye, though, as it does resemble an early model P-47. I actually got the British roadster bug while serving as a USAF fighter pilot (F-4) at RAF Lakenheath, UK, in the early '70s!

U R Welcome Bill lots of new low quality parts out there usually have to bleed 2-3 times (perhaps all you need to do) when R&R to rid system of air in line causing same issues you speak of good huntin'

Julius, I have been off line for a while, but just to close this one out, your tips worked! I now have fully functioning brakes. Thanks!

Now as to the calipers, get Wilwood .Pricey I admit , but a real safety upgrade that also improves
unsprung weight /handling. These brakes were the salvation of our race car. The Tr8 brakes were completely
inadequate for a 12 hour race.
