TR4/4A TR4A Suddenly Noisy Suspension

I hit some average sized humps and bumps in the road, and WOW is my suspension or under-carriage, right behind my seat, noisy!

Any little bump and I can feel (and hear) something hitting the floor area.

I'll pull the wheels, but I don't think it's the lever shocks or links. My guess would be the mufflers.

Any ideas of what else to check?

thx

Check the shock link to the trailing arm anyway, that makes an awful noise if its loose.

Check that the bolts holding the shock to the frame are tight, they loosen and the whole unit moves and creates a loud thump when moving.

I agree -- had this on the TR4 and even though there was no apparent movement, tightening the shock mounting bolts solved the noise. Used cap screws to simplify the attachment.

KVH -- If you can get the car over to my garage we can put it on the lift and poke/tighten/pad etc until the noise is gone.

Thanks guys, I'll pull the wheels. From a quick check, it looks like one shock set up is loose, but the muffler is also more loose than I recall from the last check-up.

Geo, I'm going to call you for a rack appointment if I can't solve it tomorrow morning. Thanks!
