TR4/4A TR4A Spare Parts Catalog?

I just picked up a TR4A Spare Parts Catalog from eBay and noticed a couple of odd things in it. First the front turn signal (flasher) lamp still appears to show the TR4 lamp with glass lamp and not the TR4A lamp with plastic lens.

Also, we were recently discussing the point at which they changed from the dual mufflers to the single mufflers and there is a remark listed but the commission number is blank (Fitted up to Comm. No. ......... only). There are a few other places that are like this as well (SU/Stromberg carbs).

Are all the reprints like this?

Actually, some originals are like that as well. My second edition* reads the same way in the Exhaust section!

As for the turn signal lamp, the glass "beehive" lamp was normal fitment on TR4A except for the USA and Canada, which got the larger, plastic lens lamp. That is detailed in my second edition*.

*Mine is a softbound copy rather than the usual looseleaf ring-binder style of the era; I think it's a later "factory" printing, though, rather than a Brooklands (or other outside publisher) reprint.

Andy,

Thanks for pointing that out. I was going by the picture only and did not hit the second page which had the USA and Canada listing (but no picture/plate numbers).

Mine is a new Brooklands reprint (second edition also) going by the ISBN but unlike the TR3 one that I also just purchased, it doesn't have any reference to Brooklands on it anywhere.

Pretty much all the SPCs are missing change points. In some cases, I think it's because there was no single change point but in others I suspect that the information was simply not available, and no one ever went back to fill in the blanks.

And my 1st edition original TR4A SPC doesn't even list the single muffler setup.
