TR4/4A tr4a oil

HI , I have a 66 tr4a , and I was wondering if anybody could tell me the pro's and con's between synthetic oil and regular oil. Thanks

At this point, I do not believe all synthetics are created equal. I use Valvoline full synthetic 20W50; and the only downside I see is it's price. Unlike my experience with Mobil 1, the Valvoline does not leak any worse than conventional oil.

And I extend the change interval to 10,000 miles; which IMO more than compensates for the price.

One of the "pros" is that my engines stay very clean inside, no signs of the sludge buildup that I have seen with conventional oils. This is particularly important with the TRactor motor, as any sludge formation tends to clog the oil feed to the rocker arms.

Another is that it holds it's viscosity very well; comes out just like it went in. I've had trouble with conventional oil losing it's viscosity in as little as 2000 miles when driven hard in hot weather.

The rest might be just marketing hype, but I don't think so. Can't prove it, but my engines both LBC and otherwise seem to last longer with the Valvoline synthetic.
