TR4/4A TR4A manifold on a TR3

We're in the process of rebuilding the engine in my '61 TR3. We have in my possesion an exhaust manifold from a TR4A which appears to be a better breather than the stock manifold on my TR3. I know it will fit the head since I bought them both from a wreck but I'm not sure it will fit in the engine compartment since the motor is out of the car. We want to get the manifold refurbished and purchase the "Y" and header pipe before we put the engine back in, any suggestions on if it should be a problem? Thanks! Kent

My gut tells me that since the TR3B had TR4 engines and carbs, it also had the exhaust manifold. I don't believe you'll have clearance issues.

Of course, you don't want to proceed on my word! /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/wink.gif

This manifold will work well if you do the exhaust right. It will require the balance of the 4a system or a two into one collector to adapt it to the tr3 style single pipe( you already have). This is nearly as good as a header and will add several HP.
