TR4/4A TR4A Heater Control Valve Question

In my quest to get at the rust left behind from the mouse nest, I disconnected the cable for the heater control valve only to find the cable was not seized as I originally believed. I removed the valve body and after cleaning and picking out nest pieces was able to get it to acuate about 1/4 on and inch. I'm assuming the acuator should move the entire length of the angled slot. Is this correct? Can it be taken apart, or should I just plan on replacing if it doesn't free up?

It should travel all the way along the slot. I would order a new one, but it is possible that you could remove it and clean it.

You can test the valve by shutting it off and blowing into one side(preferrably the end that hasn't become familiar with the mice.) If you can blow through it, it's time for a new valve.

Excellent link, I didn't see it in my search. I think I'll give the rebuild a try. Just bought a new bottle of CLR so I should be ready to go!
Thanks
JD
