TR4/4A TR4A Fuel Pump Leak

Any suggestions on trying to stop my new fuel pump from leaking at the connections? The connections are as tight as possible. Thanks.
 
New pipe and new compression fittings should do it.
 
Have you tried any pipe thread sealing tape? Better known as "Teflon Tape".

If you're using the original pipe and compression olive, try using a little more force tightening it, then back it off and tighten again. Careful not to strip the aluminum casting.

You might also try a new olive but don't trim the tube too short, just nip it past the old olive. I think Randall once posted that the length of the compression oilve is longer on TRs so you might have to modify one or order from TRF.
 
I recent bought a TR3/TR4 pump w/ priming lever from one of the big three and couldn't get the outlet to stop leaking. Tightened it, Tightened it, and tightened it some more, but I couldn't do anything to stop the leak. I took it off and looked at the threads in the pump and came to the conclusion I made a $55 mistake. The inlet side looked fine.

So I ordered another one but before I did anything I looked at the threads in the outlet. It looked horrible, and it was plainly clear that mating surfaces were not only all botched up, but not even centered. Again, the inlet side looked perfectly fine. It was not someone elses mistake, as I could tell it had never been installed. Clearly, the manufacturing process of the pumps was screwed up, and what I dismissed as my fault on the first pump was most likely a manufacturing quality control snafu. I sent it back and got a full refund.
 
In my experience (with original pumps) they often have to be wicked tight before the leak stops. Too bad about the repros (I didn't know they were making them w/ priming levers) -- but I never use repro fuel pumps just because the used units are plentiful and simple to rebuild.
 
Mkutz, Same here. The inlet looked perfect but the outlet mating surface looked almost corroded. No way it would ever seal. I sent it back on Friday and asked for a replacement. If the replacement looks the same Ill just send it back for a refund and rebuild my used one.
