I am getting my rebuilt Carbs back in 2 weeks, found a retired Boeing Machinist who does it as a hobby, he said that most overlooked when carbs are rebuilt are the butterfly disks and they get worn, he also found my shafts were worn but not the case, so we put new shafts in and butterfly disc's. Funny thing is that they were rebuilt only 6000 miles ago, unfortunatley that was in 1987, so they were gummed up, someone had actually put the wrong shaft in one of them when it was rebuilt I guess.
anyway, I am at the point to pull the gas tank and am using the POR kit to clean and coat it. I also purchased a roll of fuel line thats bendable, I had run across a guy who made a wooden gig to straighten out the line since it comes coiled. I have since lost that info, but was made up of about 12 inches of 2x4 board with a groove down the middle, You then sandwich the 2 boards together with some wing nuts and pull the line through ( I am guessing it would be easier it the gig was attached to the floor or wall.
anyone done this?
also If I pumped some clean fuel through the original line and then used a new fuel filter inline would i be safe to just do that?
Thanks
sorry for all the typo's
