TR4/4A TR4A front sidelamp trim ring

On the TR4A front sidelamps, what is supposed to hold the trim ring on the front-facing lamp in place (#37 in this picture). There is a small grove in the base gasket (#42), but that doesn't hold the trim ring all that well. Is the trim ring supposed to attach to the lens somehow?

Darrell,

The chrome ring is a really tight fit on the base of the plastic lens. You can pop the ring off if needed, but they seem to stay on pretty good.

Hmm, I'll try taking the lens off, and seeing if I can get the ring to stick to it. I doesn't seem to want to with the lens installed.

Thanks!

Yes - the lens probably has to be off to pop the ring on. I don't have one in front of me, but ISTR that there are two indentions for the "fins" that are on the lens (They can get broken off in service). Try to line the indentions up with the fins so it will fit better.

Well, with a little mixing and matching with the various rings and lenses that I have, I came up with two that seem to be holding. Thanks!
