TR4/4A TR4A Front ride height revisited

BUMP:

I'd still be interested to know if anyone thinks it would be possible to use my stock length (and spring rate) 9 3/4" springs with no alloy packing/spacer?

I might put a couple extra poly spring pads in place up top - but not the alloy packing piece.

FWIW - I am installing 20% increased rate new shocks.

thanks once again.

You can use the alloy packing or not, even get other height packing pieces to adjust the height. Be sure to use the spring pad top and bottom.
If you don't get the result you want, it's easy enough to swap the springs out later.

okay;

in summary, what I am going to do is use the poly pads top and bottom, perhaps one extra poly pad at the top, just to get a little buffer/margin since there will be no alloy packing at the top....just the spring top (and the poly pad) directly against the welded-in flange that is on the underside of the shock tower/enclosure.

...and your right, if it doesn't work, it's just a matter of removing the spring pan (after the first couple of drives) and putting alloy spacers up there.

at present, all of this deliberation has been delaying my reassembly process and i want to move forward!

thanks, wp

One of the competition tricks in the day was to use mgb gt front springs - higher spring rate and a little lower.
