TR4/4A TR4A cooling hoses

A quick question for you all as I recently noticed something while I had the car up in the air. I recently replaced all hoses for the cooling system using Roadster factory parts. From the water pump outlet back to the radiator (I believe that's the circuit), the rubber hose routes into a metal pipe and then back to rubber into the radiator. (see #19 in MossMotors diagram) https://www.mossmotors.com/Shop/ViewProducts.aspx?PlateIndexID=29120

I've noticed that there is a slight rub on the rag joint now as I turn the wheel. no rub, no rub, no rub, .. rub.. no rub, no rub, no rub, ..rub.. as I turn lock to lock.

Anyone have this issue? If so, what did you do to fix it? I'm thinking of shortening the neck of rubber pipe #17 (MossMotors diagram).

Thanks all!

Yes, that can happen. I think I was able to rotate it around until it didn't rub on the joint, though now I have TR6 u-joints which give a lot more clearance.

Like Darrell, I too went with a TR6 u-joint for the bottom joint when I restored mine. If I recall though it took a little bit to figure out the correct hose, metal pipe and hose orientation though to get everything to fit and route correctly.
