TR4/4A TR4A Commission Number Question

How close do the transmission and rear axle serial numbers come to the commission number of a TR4A?

I agree, even the engine and body numbers (which were all that were recorded on my BMIHT certificate) are near, but not the same as the commission number.

So the transmission and rear end numbers should be near the commission, engine, and body number range correct?

So what is correct? How can someone tell if they have the original transmission and rear end ?

I don't think there is any way to tell for the transmission and differential since that information did not appear to get documented at the factory. If it was I would hope they would have included it on the BMIHT certificates.

If they are within 500 of the commission number it's probably a good guess that they are the originals but no way to be positive.
