I'm still wondering why my console has that oblong cut out behind the padding instead of lined up holes for the stock radio--there must be an assumption that another plate will be made. Any advice?

There was no "factory" radio at that time. they were all dealer installed. So they gave you those slots to allow for a wider variety of radios that were available then.

Do you have a picture?

Confession is good for the soul.

I scrapped away the foam and the cut-outs are right there. The foam was so thick I deceived myself.

I'm ready to test that old radio now.

Sorry for the wasted post, but I appreciate the effort to help.

Trying to be a "glass half full" guy is difficult at times, but I'm still trying after all these years.
