TR4/4A TR4A Allowable Half Axle Play

Well, I've finally removed the U-Joints and half axle on the driver's side.

I did this while trying to locate the source of "play" I was sensing when taking off in first gear. I'd hear a click from the rear when first letting out the clutch.

I must admit, I'd need a crystal ball to pinpoint the rear axles as a source of the problem, and I suppose it could be the driveshaft or even something in the clutch.

Anyway, the sliding and fixed splined shafts appear to be fine, though there is a small amount of rotational play detectible. I can rotate one inside the other, but only by what seems to be 1/32 of an inch at the most. I have a dial gauge and I suppose I could measure somehow, but does this seem so small as to be irrelevant?

Thanks for the help.
