TR4/4A TR4 Shifting problem

My '64 has been running great this year! I parked it in the garage after my last outing, no Trans problems. I went out yesterday to take her for a spin, and I can't get her out of first gear. The shifter feels like it is REALLY locked in place. Clutch is working fine. If I start the car, let the clutch out, it sounds fine, car moves forward like normal. I recently serviced the trans, so it has plenty of oil. I am thinking something came apart in the shifter mechanism, rather than anything in the gearbox itself. I plan to pull the shifter mechanism off the top of the trans and see what is up. Anything I should be looking for? Any other thoughts on what it might be?

Thanks in advance for all the help..

My guess would be the shift interlock, inside the top cover. But by all means pull the lever first and see if you can find anything amiss under it.

It occurs whether the car is running or not. I pulled the top cover off the trans, and everything in there seems fine. The selector levers seem VERY dirty and gunked up with old dried out grease. I plan to Degrease this area, (the area immediately under the gearshift), and apply some fresh grease. I will reassemble and give it a go!!
