TR4/4A TR4 Seat Belts

For obvious reasons I want to fit some decent seat belts to my TR4. I have seen the intertia type as well as the three and four point harnesses. Does anyone have any pictures or diagrams of how these different types of seat belt would be installed?

Myles -- lots of differing opinions on this, but you might think about whether you want to be strapped in an upright position in an open car with no roll bar.
 
One thing is for certain: you do NOT want a full four-point harness UNLESS you have a good -- preferably someone's sanctioning body competition-approved -- roll bar, properly mounted! A more common three-point harness is ok in an open car, as it does give you (at least in theory) the option of being able to slide out from under the diagonal shoulder portion in the event of a rollover.

As for that three-point setup's shoulder belt mount, said shoulder mount really has to be at or above shoulder height; otherwise, there is a very real possibility of spine compression in an impact. Where the inertia reel shoulder belt guide mounts on a TR6 is ok; anything much lower than that for intertia or static belt is not.

Anything that is 'real' will be attached to the frame, not just sheet metal. And since the frame is well inboard of the doors, a 'good' roll bar will also intrude significantly on the passenger compartment.
 
Search the forum and you'll find a thread I started a few weeks ago about TR4A seatbelts, which includes photographs, drawings, and similar comments to the above from our fellow (and generous) forum members.

I went with the three-point static harness with snap ends from Moss. They are American made by Beam's in Oklahoma.
