TR4 race car "rediscovered."

There has been a lot of buzz recently about a Kastner prepared TR4 which was raced at Sebring by Jim Spencer in the early 1960's being rediscovered. (One has to wonder how many old race cars can possibly be left!)

Apparently Keith Files from the U.K. had been speaking to people about finding a car to race in the U.S.
Joe Alexander found one, belonging to Larry Rossi in Vermont, who was willing to sell. The car had been a racecar all its life, and paperwork showed it had been shipped to L.A. Sportscars, and purchased by Spencer in 1963.

There was some hope this might be a Kastner-prepped car, and Kas found some old pictures showinh the routing of an oil line secured by a clamp bolted to the inner fender. Disappointingly, this car had no bolt hole in the inner fender, but in getting ready for the MOTRAH weekend at Road Atlanta it was noticed that a weld repair, still rough on the wheel well side, had been made and ground off smoothly.

This likely confirms the cars identity as one of those originally prepared in the Kastner shop. Mike Cook also has some photos of Spencer driving the car at Watkins Glen, so the new owner will be able to build up quite a nice history file on his car!

Keith is one of the fast guys. Met him at the Nordschleife last year.
His historic TR 4 has got a Jon Wood engine and gearbox....this will make him as fast as light.

Hard job for the other Tr's to catch him....

It's fantastic to hear that found it.. it's even better that they are racing it! /bcforum/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/cool.gif

There is also another very historic TR4 entered that is running a VERY hot set-up.

To quote Joe Alexander "This is going to be quite a battle of the TR Titans."
