TR4/4A TR4 Question: Door check strap pin

Does anybody know what is the original part to hold the door check strap to the door jamb? Is it a small bolt, or some type of pin? Thanks, Jeff

Jeff-

Depends on the year of your TR4. Can't remember if you have an early one or later. Cars before CT22343 had a different checkstrap assembly (and different A-post I think). A thin looking pin was used to hold it to the jamb on the early cars (PN 612244 or 650216 maybe ).

Later models had more the TR6 style checkstrap, I believe originally that was a rivet, but people quite often use a clevis pin arrangement. I think TRF has the rivets, pn 616122. I didn't spot anyone selling the early style.

So what do ya do when one of the metal door strap holes has broken?

do ya need to weld in a new one?

Is there a replacement part?

thats the issue with mine on the passenger side door....

I have the same problem. The part is not listed anywhere I have looked. (Of course you could by a new door) I plan on grinding off the old one, and fabricate and weld or bolt on a new one.
