TR4/4A TR4 Master Brake Cylinder Rebuild

Does anyone have a trick on how to take the plunger assembly apart so I can rebuild it.The book says take a small screw driver and move the spring over the shoulder.I think I know what they want me to do but I can't seem to do it. Its very very hard to do.Any secrets ? Thanks in advance
 
Yeah, the book isn't exactly clear on that step. What you actually need to do is stick the screwdriver into the slot next to the finger on the "spring thimble", and pry the finger up enough that you can pull the plunger out of the spring thimble.

Then you can slide the valve stem to the side, and release it through the large part of the keyhole-shaped opening in the spring thimble.

This diagram is for a TR3 MC, but the process is the same:
