TR4/4A TR4 interior question...

Hey! I am in the home stretch restoring my '64 TR4... I am not sure how to go about recovering the rear fenders in the interior. I am using the Moss interior kit. I have the Foam padding glued to the Fender OK, but the upholstery seems like it needs to be stretched quite a bit to get the puckers out... I worry about getting this done so it looks good once I apply the adhesive. Any tips out there?? Should I start at the top?? At the bottom? In the middle?? Thanks for any help in advance!

Mine has the original, never molested, vinyl in that area. It also has factory-installed puckers.

Nevertheless, you are right to try to avoid such things (and good tip on the use of heat).

In case you are puzzled we call these wheel-arches.
And we don't have any fenders except on boats.

No matter, trim problems are the same everywhere.

By the way "Stuart" is one of the top UK pro-restorers and usually right.

The interior is almost done! The wheel arches came out ok.... A few wrinkles, but not bad for my first attempt at this kind of work... Here are some pics... Except for paint and body, I did all the work myself..

Thanks Geo!! Nice Pic. I am trying to decide which way to go with the wheels.. Been looking at the VTO's...

From much experience I would say that getting the seam straight and in the same spot side to side
is the starting point.The factory did NOT use foam at all ,just light cotton padding. I like to baste the seam
into position with a serious glue.Then spray on the fine adhesive of choice and stretch he upper section into position.
Dont be afraid of it and heat can be of help. Now roll the lower section on to the glue(allow it to tack off!!) and finish up the edges with the
serious stuff. Trim as needed when done.
