TR4/4A TR4 Handling Issue

When upshifting, as I release the clutch, my TR4 "drifts" to the right rather noticeably. Gives the feeling that there is no power to the r/r wheel. Have checked the wheel and hub - no evidence of a problem. Ditto for the axle. Springs, shocks look fine. Bushings are old, but certainly don't see anything loose enough to cause this issue. Car sits level. Any ideas?
Thanks

Sounds like worn bushings in the spring ends allowing slight axle orientation shift, making the rear 'jump'.

I put the car on stands and manipulated the axle with a jack. Can't see anything obvious, but I suppose it's impossible to duplicate the torque developed under acceleration.

I once found a solid axle TR4A that had a loose tube in the diff. Springs, shakles and so on were fine, but the car still self steered. Wotta weird thing to have happen.

My solid axle does the same thing, try lifting the throttle in an off-camber turn. That will wake you up!

My plan is new bushings - poly - and spring shackles too.

Let us know how you get on.

Amen to that! Exactly what happened yesterday morning. You are right, it may be more dramatic when I lift the throttle.
And what started as barely noticeable is getting progressively worse.
I think you are right, almost has to be the bushings, but I've driven many a LBC with really bad bushings and never had a similar issue.
