TR4/4A TR4 H6 float chamber needle & seat assembly

This is kind of embarrassing to ask but....I am rebuilding my H6 carbs and am not sure which end of the float needle should rest on the hinged lever to adjust. Purchased a rebuild kit from TRF and one end of the needle is black and pointed, other end is metal/spring loaded. Does the lever rest on the black pointed end or metal spring loaded end?
Thanks

The spring-loaded end rests on the lever. Black pointy end goes against the valve seat.
