TR4/4A TR4 Front sway bar install question

Hi,
I just got a new front sway bar for my 64 TR4 from Moss, but it didn't come with any installation instructions so I'm a bit unsure how some of this goes together. I did call them and they didn't have any instructions nor a reference vehicle on hand.

Question 1:
It appears the sway bar mounts to the front lower A-Arm on each side, but which bolt do I need to remove from the A-Arm and plate to then install the mounting bracket, the one closest to the wheel or the one in the middle.

Question 2:
I assume the bar attaches to the black bumper supports on the front, were there no holes there from the factory? Should the brackets mount on the supports that are at a 45 degree angle?

Thanks Tim,
That's actually different from what I've gotten from Moss. The one I have looks very much like the TR4A front sway bar, which they assured me was the correct one for my TR4.

Here is a picture I got from the web (not my car) long ago:

here are the instructions for an ADDCO-920 for the rear:

Yeah, that pic lines up with what I've seen as the front sway bar for the TR4, I'm afraid I've gotten the TR4A sway bar by mistake. Here's a pic of the mounting bracket that goes on the A Arm. It looks like all the TR4A mounting brackets I've seen and not like the TR4 ones.

Any idea if it's possible if that TR4A front sway bar will fit on a TR4? I don't think it will but wanted to check to be sure. SurprisinglyMoss is at a loss on this.

Doug,
I believe you are correct. I think the confusion starts with ADDCO. When I bought my front kit (130) it came packaged with the bar for a MG Midget! The rest of the kit was correct.

The bar above is MG Midget. The endlink kit is correct for the 130 kit for a TR4 (just above the 20"). I can measure those on my car if you wish.

Here is the best picture I can find of the bar for a 130 kit:

ADDCCO 130 on top and ADDCO 920 on bottom. SWAYBAR MASTER

Anyway. The front bar I finally received was for a 130 front bar kit (instructions for the 128 matched better than instructions for 130). The 130 instructions are for the 4a-6.

the pictures from other TR4s actually helped more than the instructions.

Here is what ADDCO has fitting the TRs:

Good Luck.

Doug-

Actually, I think you will be fine. The addco bars all mount the same, and have a pretty simple connection at the lower a arm. But Moss apparently isn't selling an Addco bar, but instead is sourcing this other bar from their Europe business. I have one still on the shelf in fact, part number TT3181. Haven't installed it yet though.

To test fit it, I'd suggest just putting the bar up against the suspension and see where those brackets go - I thought they went to the outermost bolt but I may be wrong. Yes, the inner brackets mount to the bumper arms - you can mount up the bar loosely to the car, then offer it up to the brackets to see where you need to drill.

Thanks Shawn, that's a huge help.

Last question, I hope. The sway bar links came with 2 different sets of bushings. Does the rounded one go on top or on the bottom?

Hi Doug,
We are carrying the sway bar kit from Moss Europe. I received a response back from them this morning that they are working on instructions but don't have any right now. They did however supply me with the following photo.
I hope it helps make everything more clear.
