TR2/3/3A TR4 Engine and Gearbox

I've seen this topic before but want to be sure I know what I'm getting into before starting the job. I have a rusty 63 TR4 with a rebuilt engine and overdrive transmission. I'm thinking of putting this setup into my 1960 TR3A. I realize the transmission mount will need to be slotted due to the extra length. I'm wondering what if anything needs to be done to the engine? Front plate changed? I'm putting the SU'S on it. Anything here?

Thanks, Donnie

Front plate is the main thing. Add the lower crankcase breather tube if it doesn't already have it. The fan extension is shorter on the TR3, use it and the shorter dog bolt for it. hook it up and have fun with it!

Don't you mean use the short manifold?
IIRC the long manifold doesn't fit a TR3 very well, even with the short carbs, unless you also modify the inner fender.

Donnie, Just did that with the car I bought from you. I used the TR3 transmission so no modification required there. The front plate has to be changed and I took out the plug and put the road tube external breather on the 4 engine. I used the original TR3 intake and carbs. Other than the numbers on the side of the engine you couldn't tell it from the original. I would definitely check the timing chain and tensioner while you're at it, to make sure they are good.
