TR4/4A TR4 Detroit Locker Positraction Rear End

I have a friend of a friend that is parting out a 62 TR4 that he raced in SCCA all around eastern US in the 70s. Sadly when he finished he parked the car outside for almost 40 years. The body and frame are gone and just the drive train is probably ok. I'm getting the tranny for me so the rest is up for sale.
From what he told me that the rear end is a TR4 but the guts were designed to fit into the TR case. Becomes positraction. So if you interested let me know it may take a while as he kind of lives in squalor. I have no price yet.

If it is a Detroit Locker it's downright dangerous to use on the street. I speak from experience. Unless you want to be on your toes all of the time don't consider it.

No interest on my part. I don't have a 4 anyway. I did talk to him today and he did say if he didn't think it was worth his while he was going to scrap everything.

The Locker has some value and will / should fit 3 thru 6 diffs. There may be a racer who would want it.

My father-in-law raced our GT6 a decade before I took it on as a project car. It came to us with a Detroit Locker in the rear end. He forgot to tell us it was there. The first few times I took the car around town I was greatly alarmed by the loud "bangs" coming from the rear end as I took corners. I very quickly found a replacement, stock rear end. In short, I would not run one on the street. I am sure they are fine for track use once properly set up.
