TR4/4A TR4 Axle Conversion Help

Looking for a little help, direction, advice, or whatever I can get.

My TR4 is a solid axle car with a Detroit Locker differential which I will be vintage racing with. I understand my choices are the Southwick or a Ford 8" conversion. I have a spare rear end to send the parts to Southwick but I was also trying to research the Ford 8" before making the leap. In reading this, and other sites, seems to be fairly split between the two. While I believe I have the Southwick figured out, I am not familiar with who might be able to do the Ford conversion. I called Dutchman Motor Sports in ID today, and they had no idea of what I was speaking of, even though I found several MG's who said they did it for them.

My main purpose of the post is regarding the actual axle swap due to the vulnerability of the stock Triumph axle. Everybody tells me I need to drive the 'shiny side' up.

Any bones you can throw my way are appreciated.

If you haven't done so I recommend joining the Friends of Triumph, or FOT - I think you'll get plenty of information from their mailing list. First pass I suggest contacting Joe Alexander he can link you up with them - he has a website at https://www.the-vintage-racer.com/

Thank you, I am currently on FOT. One of my cars was originally built by Uncle Jack (Joe's brother). Went with Southwick. Lots of people like the Ford 8" concept but in the time I have I could not locate anybody with experience in putting one together. Will look into it again, this winter when I put together my Uncle Jack car. Thank you for the replies I received.
