TR4/4A TR4 Alternator Conversion

Hello

I am trying to do an alternator conversion on my TR4. I have the GM 7127 alternator which I am tring to fit. I also have a thin belt setup on the car. And I have been following the instructions posted on the VTR website. What I can't do however is get the fanbelt to fit once the alternator is in place. Can someone elighten me as to whether I have to buy another (thin) fanbelt to be able to fit the alternator and if so which one I need?

Thanks

Myles

Myles,
Please be more specific as to 'won't fit'. Too small I suspect?
Loosen the bolts on the alt. enough to allow the pulley to incline in towards the belt, fit belt and then retighten.
Check it for the appropriate amount of play.
I've found that belts that will fit over the pully's easily are too big in that you'll be out at the furthest adjustment on the Alt. arm.
I've also taken the belt to any checker/Az etc. and just matched for larger/smaller as needed.

I did the same conversion on my TR3 along with the "thin belt conversion". The belt supplied with with the thin belt conversion was the wrong size when using the 7127 alternator (too short). I got the right size from NAPA...belt # 7385. That is a generic number, so anyone should have it.
