TR4/4A TR4-A Front grill ... How did you restore yours?

My grille is straight with a little corrosion at the lower corners behind the turn lamps. It has many very minute stone dings. You must look very close but you can feel them. With the lamps removed, the panel is very shinny, almost polished. I know from experience after you polish it always needs touching up.
I would use 2000 grit paper & a dremel to polish it if this works.

That grille is extruded aluminum so you can be too harsh with it. I use Mother's Mag & Aluminum polish and a rag. You could use a dremel with a polishing head I guess. I started with an NOS grille and the dings just add character, but it is smooth and clean.

I'm with Jeremy on this. I just cleaned and polished mine with something similar to what he posted.

That Mother's is good stuff, I use it as well.

The grille is anodized aluminum so you have to be careful about polishing or be prepared to cut through and remove the anodizing to polish the base aluminum. btdt it's a tedious job around the edges if you get down into the coating.

The anodizing can be removed with old fashioned oven cleaner. "easy off" works very well. Spray on, let sit for a couple of hours, then it'll polish off.

You'll have bare aluminum then and it can be polished to a chrome like shine with patience.

The problem with this method is it needs to be recoated with something clear or it'll begin to oxidize. Clear coat lacquer works fine or you can keep it waxed.

Your grill probably isn't bad enough to go this route though.

I second the Mothers mag polish. With a felt dremel bit, it'll do wonders.
