Hi guys - when you reinstall your engine bar cross-tube between the fenders do you just bolt it on or do you put a gasket or similar in between the mating surface? I know there isn't one from the factory, just curious if there is any reason to use one?

Tom-

No gasket that I'm aware of - I know some of the racing crowd tweak that cross-tube to adjust camber but not much need for that on a 4A since you can shim the lower arms.

Wouldn't think so Skip as I have never seen one on a 3 or a 6.

I can imagine how much of a pain it would be to put one in there if there was though...

Cheers,
Tush

Just make sure the car is suspended somewhere in the middle, when you reinstall the cross tube. You will never get it in if the car is sitting firmly on its wheels!

True - I know because I just verified this through trying (for 2 minutes) before I jacked the car up.

Installed. Sorry for the shaky image, maybe I shouldn't drink and wrench. (kidding)

Everything needs a deep cleaning still...

But they go the other way, shortening the tube rather than shimming it out. Stock setup (for the earlier cars) has too much positive camber for best traction, and shortening the tube is one way to improve things when running in classes that don't allow moving the upper pivot point.
