TR2/3/3A TR3B Gas Line leaking

I have noticed my gas line from the fuel pump is leaking very slowly. In the past, whenever it leaked, I could stop it by tightening the nut going into the fuel pump.

That doesn't seem to work anymore.

Any suggestions would be appreciated.

I bought a gas line lock several years ago from Moss, but haven't had the guts to install it.

Paul,probably not a popular method,but the easiest way to stop a leaking ferrule fitting is get some teflon tape,cut a strip the width of the ferrule,and wrap about 2-3 times,insert and tighten.Dont overtighten.

Any tips for disconnecting it without having fuel spill all over my garage floor?

When I installed a new fuel pump three years ago, it was a pain trying to keep gas from leaking all over the place.

As I recall, I ended up buying a rubber hose and putting a wooden plug in it.

Paul,I am more familiar with cmopression fittings than tr3's,but if you have tank shutoff,close it,or park on a hill
(engine up).or jack car front up etc.
BTW there have been other posts about short,standard type ferrules being a problem when used to replace original long ferrules.Randall had a good method of fabbing correct shape by using two ferrule halves.Generally a little tape will fix a weeper.

Believe it or not, this will work.

Buy a bar of Octagon soap, scrape some of it off with a pocket knife, and then powder the scrapings. Pack the resulting powder around the leaking ferrule until it is surrounded with the powder. Continue to press the powder around the leak and the leak will cease and desist in short order.

Everyone needs to add a bar of Octagon soap to the tool kit in the car. It will repair most types of fuel leaks.

I agree with Randall. The photo below shows the in-line valve we added to grey lady just prior to attaching the line from the shut-off valve to the fuel pump. This valve, in SS, was purchased from a major industrial supplier and has a provision for adding a small padlock.

That is a nice looking valve. What type is it? It sure looks more efficient than the one I got from Moss several years ago.
