I don't for certain whether it is true or not, but most likely it is.
What were the markings on the fuses you got? The original Lucas fuses had a paper insert inside that would say something like "17.5 A Continuous" for a "35 amp" fuse.

Perfect! These are the same. Good to know the color of the paper is different based on the fuse type.

Any suggestions on the CORRECT type of grease to use in the gear housing.
 
What's your definition of "CORRECT" ? Grease technology has come a long way since 1950; almost anything you get today will be better than original. I used a "disc brake wheel bearing" grease that contains molybdenum disulphide (aka moly) and is supposedly resistant to water contamination. Seemed to work out just fine on my previous TR3A, so I used it again on the current TR3.

However, the TR2 workshop manual specified "zinc oxide" based grease (which is almost impossible to find today), while the TR4 manual specified "Ragosine Listate" (whatever that is). Then there's the Lucas Overseas Technical Correspondence course, which mentions "Duckham's HBB".

I'll add that, in my experience, any binding has nothing to do with the grease in the wiper motor gearbox. It's much more likely to be the rack binding in the tubing (typically caused by tiny kinks in the tubing where it got bent during R&R, or possibly dried grease and dirt inside); or the wheelboxes binding. Also, this system was designed to wipe fairly slowly, you'll never get the kind of wiper action that is common on later cars. The specified "no load" speed (wipers not on glass) is only slightly more than one sweep per second.

- how much should I use (pack to top/level with gear....), where, and are there areas to avoid within the gear box.
- can/should the same grease be used for the drive cable or is something else more appropriate.

It's not sealed very well, so if you pack it completely full, it will probably leak. I just give all the rubbing parts a generous coating and let it go at that.
Same grease for the rack.
