I found a picture of the car when I started on it and the rear view mirror was not bolted on the dash. I found the mirror in a box of parts but no hardware. It looks like it was bolted to the dash with regular nuts and bolts. John it looks like the nuts that are spot welded to the plate are square nuts, is that correct?

This is what I came up with for the rear view mirror nut plate. I made the nut blanks and silver soldered them to A 16 gauge plate. The holes were punched in the plate and the blanks were center punched to check alignment after the blanks were silver soldered. It would have been easier to tack the blanks but I am trying to get better with the torch. the nuts were drilled and tapped ready to be welded in place.

Not the prettiest welds but welding upside down adds its own challenge. I will go back and touch it up after seeing the picture.

Rear view mirror mounted with the wind shield support bracket. I did not know what the bracket was for til I started this project. Read about it on the forum when someone was trying to mount the mirror after the windshield was in and mentioned the bracket. It was fun to get this taken care of and see the mirror back in place. That looks the part, one mistake I made when I painted that support bracket, it should be black as yours is, not body color, in fact, yours looks like a wrinkle finish the same as the mirror, better stil.

Exactly. Things have been slow but several projects underway as they all have to get done sooner or later. Some more interesting than others and I need to keep in mind that it may help someone down the road. Frank
