Anyone know if the original jets had the number marking on the stainless base or not? I've been doing a carb rebuild with an aftermarket kit that I'm not totally happy with quality wise. The jet does not have the # .100 on it and I'm wondering if it really is the correct jet or not? I'm thinking of ordering new jets from the Big Three.....are their jets marked?

Aloha Karl,

The jet for the SU's on the TR3 had a .100" bore. This is a constant, it is the needle that is tapered to various degrees that changes the mixture. According to Moss, the standard needle was "SM", lean was "SL" and rich was "RH". These letters are usually marked on the shank that fits into the dash pot piston.

So there is no way to tell for sure if I have been sent a .90 bore jet or a .100 bore jet if it is not marked?

Can't you measure the bore? Inside calipers or small hole gages?

Or just drop a standard needle into it. A needle for a .100" jet won't go all the way into a .090" jet.
