TR2/3/3A TR3A Steering Column Clamp

Pretty sure this came out of my car but have no real idea of where it goes, in the over all scheme of things. Could someone clue me in please?

It gets bolted to the firewall (engine compartment side) to hold the upper section of the column.
 
Looks more like an exhaust system clamp?
Been many years between me and the last TR-bloody-3 I've touched but that'd be my startin' point for findin' matching mount points. Transmission bolts front and rear first, as it's a "hard" mount.
 
Dear me! I've lived long enough to see Dr. E post an error! :shocked:

Art is correct. It bolts to the firewall in the engine bay, clamping end pointed up, and clamped around the steering column.
