TR2/3/3A TR3A Spare Tire Door Seal

Has anyone ever had any trouble getting the spare tire door back on after fitting a new seal? I have had a new back panel fitted to my TR during the restoration which may be part of the problem. I'm not sure which way the seal goes on, does the overhanging part go outboard or inboard? At the minute Ive got it facing out and the door seems to want to go in a lot more before the locks will engage.
Any suggestions or photo's would be a great help.

Sounds to me like you have the wrong seal. The correct spare tire seal is nearly flat, with a depression in the center where the lid hits it.

The one I got from TRF a few years ago fit my 56 TR3 perfectly, and looked exactly like the one on my TR3A.
