TR2/3/3A TR3A seat questions

After R&Ring my tranny I've went ahead and replaced the carpet jute and just doing a better job installing the interior. Now I noticed some splits in the seat covers so time to replace them. Here are my questions. Is there any difference between the driver seat and the passenger seat frames other then the obvious back flipping up? Or if there is a difference is it only in the seat covers? I use the passenger seat (the one that flips up) for the driver seat because my interior is black and as you know that vinyl bakes in the summer sun. So now I can flip up the seat back and block the sun from hitting the seat.

I some times get hassled about switching the seats in shows but my other philosophy about it is the right seat is the driver seat in the UK, so shouldn't the drive seat be the one that always flipps up? I have this retired upholsterer that will build seat covers and sew in cloth material where you set. Making the drive much more pleasurable. I have to take these to him Monday to start the job if they're going to be done by TRF's summer party.

Oh ya one more question. Is the edge of the seat pan supposed to be covered with vinyl too?
 
I am by no means an expert on this....so this is only MHO. I know that according the the judging guide the seats were covered in leather or vinyl. The faces of the seats were where the difference takes place.

The passenger seat is the one that flips....which ever hand drive it is,.... places that seat.

Mine were wrapped in vinyl trim when I went to start the repairs but I am not sure if this has to be recovered. I think there was some variance here

This is right from the judging guide:

A. Seat Upholstery - Both leather and vinyl trim was available on the cars, first as an option, then as standard. On
the seats, only the seat facings were trimmed in leather, the rest of the seat upholstery being vinyl. In TR2s,
neither seat folds forward. In later cars, the passenger's seat was hinged to fold forward, the driver's was not;
this change was made at TS8637 when the gas tank was made smaller allowing room for an occasional seat
 
Thanks for the come back. I didn't fully express my concerns in my post last night. I shouldn't wright so late at night especially when I put in three 18 hours days straight on this car.
I'm not so worried about the clothe sitting area, that's my choice to make the ride MUCH more enjoyable. I hate going to shows anyway. My concern was that possibly the seat frames were shaped differently giving a odd look to the placement of the seats .

If it wasn't answered in the above -- I believe there is no difference in the seats other than the hinged thing, i.e. the seat kits are not handed.

I was under the inpression that even a concours judge cannot touch your car -- so how do they know which seat is hinged? Can they ask you to move it?

One small advantage to having the drivers seat hinged (in addition to the shade factor) is that you can get some adjustment to the vertical position of the squab/seat back but the introduction of thin hardwood blocks on those metal pads on the seat bottom that the hinged back comes to rest on.
 
There is also a stop at the place where the seat back rests.
 
Thanks! That settles that. The pic is a great help. I droped them off today and told him to cover the pans too. Man is he cheep. $250 that includes material and labor.
