TR2/3/3A TR3A seat back, foam thickness?

The fellow who is upholstering my seats called today and asked me about the size (thickness) of the foam used for the seat backs. I have no idea because it was so long ago that they were stripped. Does anyone have any idea how thick that foam should be? He is also concerned about the age of the vinyl (20 plus years). Is there something I could use to rejuvenate the vinyl?

Your thoughts and ideas greatly appreciated.

When I did mine, which was years ago I didn't use foam. I used the cloth padding and applied it in layers. I don't believe it breaks down over time like foam does.
