TR2/3/3A TR3a oil line at block question

I am starting on a TR3a and want to start the rebuilt engine before removing it to repaint the inner body. I purchased the car part way thru a restoration. There are only bolts holding the oil filter assembly on. Looks like there is a stud with a oil hole and nut that is missing and needed to hook up a oil pressure gauge. I have the steel banjo line that attaches. Where might I find these parts? Moss shows the hollow stud? as N.A. Help! Bob

Thanks Art, As a MG guy the Roadster Factory was not on my parts hunting list. I think I need a parts book from them also. Looks like I am missing the dipstick also. I wonder what I will find missing on day 2! Bob

Generally speaking TRF does not issue parts books. They do issue sale catalogues but the Triumph Parts Book can be used to find the p/n which can then be used on the TRF site. A site search by part name may also find a specific part.

FWIW, the stud is not hollow at all. Instead the hole through the filter housing is oversize, to allow oil to flow around the outside of the stud. The copper washers are different sizes, the inner one has a larger center hole to allow the oil to pass. Takes a special nut, too.

There is a PDF of the Triumph parts book, which you can download from

Most of the scans are not mine, but I do maintain it from time to time so if you find a problem (illegible diagram or whatever), let me know.

Also, TRF does support MGB & GT, but not MGA or other models.
