Back in December I had a week off work and decided to organize my garage and work shop to get ready for my TR6 project. So I took the 250 and the 3 around the block for a warm up knowing that would be the last till spring. Needed to make some room for a week or 2 so I bought a 20x15 tarp drove the 3 onto it and wrapped it like it was a Christmas gift. Bungy corded it together and thought it would be protected from the elements for a few weeks. That was DEC 27th. Mother nature must not want me to move it and it's killing me to do this to my car. We have not seen grass since then. Snow and more snow. This was todays pic and 2 more days of snow coming.
Got 3 TRs and only a few months out of the year to drive them in northern Ohio. Should rethink this. Any job openings in California, Texas, Arizona or Florida?

Don't forget that New Mexico is a Southwestern state. Here in the NW corner we have the oil and gas industry that might even supply a job opportunity. I have been driving my TR to work every day, except when it's warm enough to take my scooter. We are looking forward to attending a rally in Tucson next month. We should be able to go topless for most of the trip.

Kinda depends on your field. I know where there are some openings for GPS software engineers here in CA ... or at least there were last week.

Just to add insult to injury, here's a shot from the club's New Years Day drive.

Your weather can't be too different than SE PA. We drive the 250 from early spring (mid March) until late October. eight months out of twelve is not bad.

Just some advice. You better be very cautious about relocating during these troubling times. Those areas that had great employment opportunities in recent years are really hurting now. Do yourself a favor and carefully review the cuurent un-employment rates by state. I believe you will be surprised.

good luck

Never mind the job, I'm worried about the TR3! I hope it is nice and dry in there and not suffering with condensation.

Two great pictures on this post. I love the diversity of your country.

Brrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr!!!

The poor car!

(I HATE THE COLD)

we had a nice ICE Storm last night,

driving into work this am was like driving a Zamboni !!!

Snow happens, even in Arizona. This storm caught me napping as I had neither a top nor a windscreen on the car (was sunny & warm when I parked it):

But that's unusual. All this week we have full sunshine all day and on Saturday (high in the mid-70s) there will be a British car driving event starting at my house that will draw more than 25 cars & 50 people, I must be barking mad but this is such a fine place to run a British car that I can't say no to them.

Can't comment on the job market here (unless you're rocket scientest, seem to need lots of those).

Had a funny feeling I was going to get short sleeve weather car show photos from the tropics. I love that shot of the ice storm. Makes me feel a lot better. It's been so cold lately (single digits for 17 nights and many days not much warmer) condensation is not a major concern yet. I have a metal lathe and milling machine in my unheated work shop and watch them constantly for signs of corrosion. Of course they are oiled down and the car isn't. It wasn't suppose to be out there that long but mother nature had a different idea.
I'm no rocket scientist just a wanted to be machinist turned nut and bolt salesman. As far as GPS programer. What's a GPS? I still do it the old fashion way with a map. If in the woods a map and compass is best. No batteries to fail. If you use a GPS for real reasons you better know how to use a compass for back up.
As far as moving to a milder climate has never been a real consideration. However I do think about it more often.
I gust got this e-mail today from one of my customers. What timing. Jeff Foxworthy has his thoughts about if you live in Ohio. So true. Enjoy.
_____________________________________________________________________________

Forget Rednecks, here is what Jeff Foxworthyhas to say about Ohioans...

If your local Dairy Queen is closed from September through May, youmay live in Ohio...

If someone in a Home Depot store offers you assistance and they don't work there, you may live in Ohio...

If you've worn shorts and a parka at the same time, you may live in Ohio...

If you've had a lengthy telephone conversation with someone who dialed a wrong number,
you may live in Ohio...

If "Vacation" means going anywhere south of Columbus for the Weekend, you may live in Ohio...

If you measure distance in hours, you may live in Ohio...

If you know several people who have hit a deer more than once, you may live in Ohio...

If you have switched from "heat" to "A/C" in the same day and back again, you may live in Ohio...

If you can drive 75 mph through 2 feet of snow during a raging blizzard without flinching,
you may live in Ohio...

If you install security lights on your house and garage, but leave both unlocked, you may live in Ohio...

If you carry jumper cables in your car and your wife knows how to use them, you may live in Ohio...

If you design your kid's Halloween costume to fit over a snowsuit, you may live in Ohio...

If the speed limit on the highway is 55 mph -you're going 80 and everybody is passing you,you may live in Ohio...

If driving is better in the winter because the potholes are filled with snow,
you may live in Ohio...

If you know all 4 seasons: almost winter, winter, still winter and road construction,
you may live in Ohio...

If you have more miles on your snow blowerthan your car, you may live in Ohio...

If you find 10 degrees "a little chilly", you may live in Ohio...

If you actually understand these jokes, and forward them to all your Ohio friends & others, you definitely live in Ohio!!

Hi There TR3ATR250,

I have been selling "Ceramic Indexable Cutting Tools" virtually all my life to date.

I`m in NE PA & I covered All areas from Maine, NY State to Maryland. I literally watched "Bethlehem Stl", "CAT", "Pratt & Whitney" (Major Mfg. Plants) go down the toilet!

So; Don`t look here. There`s nothing left.

Check out "Mexico or Canada"; Thats where all the Automotive is being mfg (If you would work for $.25 per hr)?

Mfg. in this whole country is in "DEEP S___T"!!!!

Best Wishes,

Russ

From your backyard photo it looks like you may live in the Painesville Twp or Perry area. I used to live in Pville Twp. I enjoyed my TR6 for over 20 years in the area. Every fall I think of being back there on a nice Indian Summer weekend taking the 6 for a long cruise thru Chesterland right into Hunting Vally,Gates Mills, the Polo grounds into Chagrin Falls. Then heading east in Amish country, then finally north to the Winery area and covered bridges to share a bottle of wine with the wife. Always a great day driving thru the grape fields with the smell of the grapes on the vine and the fall colors and leaves flying around the car as you drive thru. I now reside in AZ with some great drives here also. But I would trade any of them to do a fall drive back in Ohio. No AZ photo today just a day in the garage (70 today) working on the TR3.

Keith.

Your "you must be from Ohio" list works real well for Minnesota too.

Small world. You are fairly close. I'm in Mecca Township (Trumbull County)about 3 minutes from Mosquito lake. I was in Painsville on Thursday of this week and was at a shop in Perry standing out back looking and thinking how much it looked like my back yard. Painsville is part of my territory and I call on many car dealers and independent shops. I always enjoy my ride on Rt 86 or 608 into Lake county. Many other runs up there too I've not discovered yet. Let me know of some of your favorites. I often take the 3 or 250 in the summer for work.
Been trying to get the wife to go to the wineries or on the covered bridge tour but no interest. I'll have to go with my son or daughter but they'll want to drive. Hay good reason to take both cars.
The covered bridge at 307 & 534 was recently rebuilt. There was a terrible rain storm about 4 years ago that damaged it. Haven't been over it yet but on the way home Thursday I could see it. beautiful long bridge. Thanks for introducing you self.

Larry

PS
I'll trade you one of your runs for some of that 70 degree weather!

My father was from Cincinnati and was stationed here in Fresno CA during the war. He met my mother here and here he stayed (Mom's family had migrated from Toledo in 1926 when she was 2).

Every Thanksgiving he would call his brother and let him know that we had fresh picked tomatos from the backyard in the salad.

Just read an article that said California is beginning to lose some of its population. Mostly in the Los Angeles area I think.

I am about retired, thanks to an early out offered to Postal employees. My son is 18 and work is hard to find, I wouldn't come looking for a job here right now.

Feel free to come and drive though, its going to be a sunny 65 today.

Russ,

Average wage for an auto worker in Canada is $68 per hour. Average wage in the U.S.A is $55 per hour. Just thought you might like to know.

Cheers,
M. Pied Lourd

With respect, Pied, it'd take a lot more than $7/hour to get me to move back to the frozen north!

Come to think of it, that may be why Detroit is paying over $70/hour, while the "foreign" plants down south pay less.

I guess it's tough all over. Called in the office today 3 times. Unusual for me, anyway had 2 to 3 calls ahead of me each time. Just thought it was a busy day and was feeling positive until I opened my e-mail tonight. President said they let go half of the staff today. Sales are down and had to do something quick. Now our sales goals are minimum standards not 90% as of before. I may be more serious about that move and career change.
Thanks for all who helped find TR3 fenders too.
