TR2/3/3A TR3A Firewall Hole Spring Clips

On the TR3A, there are 1/2 inch holes in the firewall where a spring clip is inserted and a screw is screwed into this clip in order to hold things like the control box and fuse box.

My clips keep falling apart, and I need to source some new ones. Despite my best efforts, I'm unable to find them on Moss. Does anyone know the correct name for this part and/or a part number?

I believe those are "spire nuts", and you can call Moss for the correct ones if you don't have their catalog. Online isn't a lot of help, as there are several sizes, but here's the page:

If you can find a vendor that has a doorman assortment you will find what you need locally. All four of the Auto Parts store here have them.
Take a sample down and I`ll bet they can match you up.

TRF (factory) P/N FC2805

Note that your problem may be the screws you are using, the original screws were large enough to expand the portion inside the car and help lock it into place.

Actually, my clips are rusted to the point that most of them no longer have two "tabs". They just sort of snapped off as I removed them and the ones that didn't break during removal are breaking during re-install.

I lucked out, and found exactly the clip I need from Bresco. About midway down the page, they have a clip that fits a 33/64th hole. I now have 16 coming to me, from overseas, for a cost of $24. :frown:

But at least I know it'll be the right part!

Makes $.80 each from TRF look pretty good !

I'm not so sure, since I can't find a picture of FC2805. Without confirmation that it's exactly what I need, any that I purchase may end up being wasted money.

Well, I'd offer to take a picture of the ones I bought, but I don't recall offhand which box they are in. So this will have to do.
