TR2/3/3A TR3A carpet question

The small 3" high strip right under the doors and between the kick panel and the dog leg trim panel, what goes in the section? The carpet kit I got way back in 1981 didn't have anything that went there. The only one I ever noticed at a show had polished stainless in that section. I recently had to remove my carpet for a tranny R&R. I'm replacing the jute and trying to finish the interior properly and that always bothered me that it looked unfinished.

Also I saw a pic of a TR3 that utilize fuzzy door seals. Would that be correct? I looked in the books and couldn't find anything to prove that. Since I put the car on the road in 1983 all the rubber whether seals have deteriorated and fallen off. Any suggestions on a better way to install or better products?

It's a piece of aluminum that slides over the panel abutment and covers the inner rocker. It gets screwed into place. They are available at the big three.

I was at Team Triumph today and scott had just ordered one for another local customer so I'll get to see one Friday. Where are they screwed in at?

The aluminium sill cover is secured to the inner sill with two slot-head screws on each. I replaced mine in 1990 and used the exact same locations for the holes - both on the new alum. sill covers as well as the holes I drilled and tapped in the new inner sills. It is flat up the side of the sill from the floor or bottom edge of the floor carpet and it curves back on itself 180 degrees to "hook" over the top flange of the inner sill where it is flange welded to the outer sill as well as the floor pan.

BTW, I can't see this vertical flange in the red photo shown above.

Here is a photo from a late TR3A I restored showing this flange securing the outer sill to the floor pan that it "hooks" over.
