This week I finished the wiring of the control box, fuse block and solenoid. With this branch of circuits is a black (earth) wire with a ring terminal. My guess is that it goes under the head of the control box attachment screw shown in the photo. If not could someone please tell me where this should go? A photo would be great.

Also shown in this photo is the signal flasher relay which is fitted with a hex head bolt. Should there be a washer/s under the head of the bolt?

A general question regarding wiring these cars. I noticed that there is no earthing wire in the branch of the loom that serves the fuel tank sending unit and rear lights. It seems a good idea to add one. Is this a common practice?

I'm not certain it's "correct", but my ring terminal is under the head of the LH bolt for the starter solenoid.

And I think there should be both a lockwasher and a flat washer on the bolt for the flasher, but again not certain. Your car may be different, since it lacks the blanking plate.

Don't know how many take my advice, but I definitely recommend adding a ground harness to the rear. Mine has a ring terminal to fit one of the fuel tank mounting bolts, a wire up to the fuel tank sender, and another wire that daisy-chains across all of the rear lamps.

Here's where my little ground wire is connected. Can't say if it's the correct spot though I have seen others using that place (proving exactly nothing). I may go squinty-eyed and look at some factory photos to see if they hold a clue (or wait for Don to answer).

Okay, I found a photo I took of a thought-to-be-original TR3A. Hard to see because of that battery box liner, but I think the balck wire disappears behind the edge of the plastic liner heading in a direction towards the spot I show in my prior picture.

I've just cleaned up that area on my post 60000 TR3A. The little ground looks like the one in your picture.

George, Johnny, Randall, et al: You guys are the best. Thank you.

Actually I found a very old digital photo that I took in 2000 with a Sony Mavica. Less than 1 megapixel, but if you squint you can see the wire and terminal. The old grey lady was looking very poorly back then with her rattle can finished engine compartment.
