Well I am making some progress on the 1961 tr3 and I am sure I need to stay with it because I am forgetting things. I put one of those yellow fans on it, but never put the cross member in. The problem is now that the cross member is in the fan is too close to the cross brace(1/2) inch. I got the fan from Mickey years ago and I think it come with a kit to mount it and through my genius I perhaps lost the spacer that holds the fan out. I just do not remember if it had or needed a spacer. If anyone has had this problem, please help.

Steve -

I couldn't get one to fit my early 3A either. Same problem as you, even reversing, tried TR4 hub ... wouldn't fit. ISTR someone using a stack of washers to space theirs out but it was not something I wanted to do. I now use a BMW 2002 tii fan recommended by Max Marx (Christian).

I put mine on backwards, and it just clears the crossmember. I get lots of air flow with it.
Ditto. Even using a narrow fan belt, I have to thread it through there and turn the crank 1/4 turn to get the belt in and out.

Hi all and yes thanks for your notes. There was no spacer and perhaps I will make one. And yes I think the washers would be too chessie also, perhaps I will have an idea that will work.
