TR2/3/3A Tr3 Wiring Harness

I have a wiring harness for a late Tr3 that I bought from TRF, oh, geez, at least 20 years ago, and never installed. I think it's still in the box it came in.

Anyway, my question is: Do you think it's still OK to use? I'm planning to sell it but I don't want to sell something that's going to fall apart on the buyer (assuming there IS a buyer).

Also, this one is wrapped in what appears to be black electrical tape - have they changed the way they make them since then?

Thanks

If it has been stored in a dry place I would not expect it to have suffered from the long sit. Which TR3 it is correct for will depend on a couple of things... most notably the insulation on the individual wires. Early looms used a lacquer braided wire (sort of cloth over black insulation) and later used a vinyl insulation.

Other big difference is whether the connectors are set-up for screw-terminals (pre-TS60000?) or Lucar (spade connectors) on things like voltage regulator, instruments, dynamo, etc.

I have never seen an original TR3/3A harness that was wrapped in black tape -- only ones I've seen were sheathed in black cloth.

Thanks, it was kept dry in the upstairs of my garage, but I'm guessing that the way the Roadster Factory makes them has improved over the years.

My original actually had a white vinyl around it but it was a late 80,000+ car and I was told they were starting to make Tr 4 harnesses that way.
