TR2/3/3A TR3 Wire wheels 60's or 72's

I am going to get wire wheels for my 56 TR3. I like the look of the 72 spoke Dayton wheels, any issues with the 5 in width versus the 4.5? Anyone using the Revington spacers in lieu of chopping the bolts?

I personally prefer the look of the 60-spoke, but then I also think painted look better than chrome on a TR3. To me a 72-spoke chrome says 'Jag' (not that there's anything wrong with that). Just a matter of personal taste/opinion.

I do use the spacers and often switch the wires & steel wheels between the 2 TRs. Only takes about a half hour and gives a different look. If you are planning on staying with the wires all the time then you should really consider shortening the studs though I have had no problems using the spacers for 5 years & 10s of thousands of miles.

P.S. I obtained my spacers locally at a hot-rod shop. They are 6mm (1/4") -- one well-known source said to use 9mm but clearly that would not work.

I also like the look of 60-spokes on TR3s. Since 72 spoke wheels were not available on TR3s, they look out of place to me.

I'm also with Geo regarding painted over chrome. Very few TR3s used chrome, because the chroming process weakened the spokes.

Thanks for the input. The only reason I like the Revington spacers is they are made for the car and don't have a universal oblong hole.
I was actually considering getting the wires powder coated an off white/light tan for my red car with tan interior.
Like the idea fo being able to switch back and forth on the wheels
