I'm about to install a new piece of glass into my TR3 windscreen frame. The job looks fairly straightforward, but I'm unsure of the best way to install the glass with the new glazing strip. Is that strip put in all in one piece?? Or should it be cut so I do the top and side sections as one piece and then the bottom as another piece? The original frame had no glass or strip in it, so I have nothing to go by.

I believe you keep it all in one piece.

Look at posts #208595 and 208606 by Don Elliott about using electrical tape instead of the glazing strip (TR3 Windscreen thread started 11-2-06). I just had a windscreen professionally installed, and that guy just tossed the glazing strip I ordered, and used some kind of a thick fabric strip he had. He cut it long enough to encase the entire windscreen, then folded it over the edge of the glass all around and slipped it in the frame. Believe he brought the two ends together in the middle at the top. Then just took a sharp blade and cut off any excess fabric that was sticking out. He also gave me some strips of a black sticky/rubbery stuff, forget the name but I think it is akin to oakum, that you then press into the area between the frame and the glass. It's a real mess to work with and needs to be cleaned up with tar remover, but it does give a real nice professional finish look to the job and tightly seals any cracks so no water gets in this crevice.

Darn, that'll teach me to use the "search" function. As soon as you mentioned that previous thread, I remembered reading it awhile back. I must be getting too old. I keep forgetting the important stuff. /bcforum/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/smile.gif

Thanks, I'll use the tape. And thanks to Don also for coming up with that idea.
